The staff of Suikoden: The Anime announced additional cast members and revealed the opening theme performed by amazarashi in a second promotional video released on Sunday, with the clip shown at Anime Expo on Saturday. The series, an adaptation of Konami's Suikoden II game, is scheduled to debut in October and will air on Tokyo MX, Kansai TV, BS Asahi, and a total of 32 channels in Japan. The new cast members include Jin Yamanoi as Agares Blight, King of the Highland Kingdom and father of Luca and Jillia; Miyuki Sawashiro as Anabelle, the Mayor of Muse City and chairperson of the Jowston Alliance; and Kōdai Sakai as Jess, the deputy mayor of Muse City. In the video, amazarashi performs the opening theme song "Kanashimi Sae Otonabite" (Even in Sadness I'll Look Like an Adult). The staff also announced that 10 theaters across Japan will screen the anime's first three episodes for two weeks beginning August 21. Additionally, a manga adaptation will debut in volume 155 of Comic Dengeki DaiohG on July 27, illustrated by Kochiya. The anime's previously announced cast includes Toshiki Kumagai as Riliu, Shimba Tsuchiya as Jowy, Ayumi Hinohara as Nanami, Katsuyuki Konishi as Viktor, Yūichi Nakamura as Flik, Taku Yashiro as Luca Blight, Chika Anzai as Jillia Blight, Akihiro Mine as Rowd, Tsukino Chikasada as Pilika, Ayumu Murase as Luc, Takeo Ōtsuka as Shu, Yoshino Aoyama as Apple, Masato Niwa as Mukumuku, Jun Kasama as Culgan, Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Seed, Megumi Han as Leknaat, Shōta Hayama as Gengen, Ryūnosuke Watanuki as Rikimaru, Saya Hitomi as Rina, Mizutama Umino as Eilie, Yūsuke Sasaki as Bolgan, and Yūzō Satō as director. NBCUniversal Entertainment Japan anime and music production department member Ryō Hino serves as producer and production manager, while Michihiro Tsuchiya oversees series scripts, Fumi Ishikawa is credited as game character designer, Arata Suzuki provides original drafts for anime character designs, and Ryō Yamauchi serves as anime character designer. Yoshikazu Iwanami is the sound director, and Kōji Nakamura composes the music. Konami describes Suikoden II as a story about the hero and his friend Jowy, members of the Unicorn Youth Brigade, during a prolonged border dispute between the Highland Kingdom and the City-States of Jowstown, with hidden tensions leading to a new war. The HD remastered release of Suikoden and Suikoden II launched for multiple platforms in March 2025, and Konami is developing a new mobile and PC game titled Gensō Suikoden: Star Leap.
