Billionaire investor Tim Draper said he has not moved 1,000 Bitcoin to Coinbase Prime after blockchain analytics linked his wallet to the transfer, reaffirming his $250,000 Bitcoin price target for the coming year.
Draper purchased nearly 30,000 Bitcoin in a 2014 U.S. Marshals Service auction, paying about $632 per coin for a total of roughly $18.7 million, a position now valued at about $1.9 billion. Lookonchain reported on Friday that a wallet identified by its AI‑based system as possibly belonging to Draper transferred the coins to Coinbase Prime, a move worth approximately $62 million at the time.
The wallet’s transaction history shows additional interactions with Coinbase Prime, including a 1,000‑Bitcoin transfer on July 9, 2025, when Bitcoin traded near $115,880 per coin. Arkham assigned a lower‑confidence label “Tim Draper?” to the address, while Cointelegraph sought comment from Arkham and received no response before publication. Draper’s forecast has repeatedly missed earlier timelines; he first expected Bitcoin to reach $250,000 by late 2022 or early 2023, but the asset’s highest price to date is $126,080, recorded on October 6, 2025, and it was trading around $62,530 at the time of writing.
Other analysts have voiced differing views. Blockstream CEO Adam Back suggested Bitcoin could eventually reach $500,000 to $1 million, while BlackRock CEO Larry Fink said institutional adoption could push the price to $700,000. Critic Peter Schiff argues the asset may fall to zero. Polymarket’s 2026 prediction market places the most likely 2026 price around $68,000.
The episode underscores the difficulty of confirming wallet ownership and the ongoing debate over Bitcoin’s future price trajectory.
