According to code visible in the iOS 26.6 beta 5 release, Apple will add a warning for potentially malicious iMessages in the upcoming iOS 26.6 update, a user posted on X on July 13, 2026. The warning, named "Malicious Message Detected," will appear as a pop‑up when the system identifies a message that may compromise privacy or security. Apple provides three response options: share the message with Apple for analysis, dismiss the alert by selecting "Not Now," or choose "Don't Report." Choosing "Not Now" may cause the alert to reappear later. The design resembles the pop‑ups shown in Safari, which may cause confusion. Apple previously implemented BlastDoor sandboxing in Messages in iOS 14 and added Lockdown Mode, iMessage Contact Key Verification, and spam filtering to enhance security. The feature is present in the fifth beta build, and Apple expects the update to reach the public later in July before the launch of iOS 27.
