Akko announced the U1 series of mechanical keyboard switches to mark its 10th anniversary, introducing a new lineup that emphasizes smoother actuation and refined acoustic characteristics. The switches use a newly formulated POM blend that retains self‑lubricating properties while improving consistency, and feature a redesigned cylindrical stem and optimized rail structure to produce a lower‑pitched thocky sound. An upgraded POM top housing is intended to reduce spring ping and unwanted resonance.
The lineup includes the linear Creamy Yellow U1, which the company says bridges the tactile gap between earlier V3 and V5 versions; the tactile Creamy Purple U1, which adds stem stability and noise suppression; the Piano U1, an upgraded take on the V3 Pro Piano switch; and the speed‑focused Crystal Silver U1. The Creamy Yellow U1 is offered in 100‑switch packs for £18.00/€19.99, while the Cream Purple, Piano and Crystal Silver models are sold in 45‑switch packs at £9.00/€11.89 and £13.00/€16.65 respectively. Akko indicated that silent‑oriented variants are planned and will be pre‑installed in future keyboards such as the 5075 V5. The products are currently available for purchase.
