Andrew and Tristan Tate were arrested Saturday in Miami by the U.S.
Andrew and Tristan Tate were arrested Saturday in Miami by the U.S. Marshals Service on a sealed warrant, the Associated Press reported. British prosecutors say they are seeking the brothers’ extradition on rape and sex‑trafficking charges allegedly committed between 2010 and 2017.
The brothers, dual U.S. and British citizens, moved to Romania in 2016, were arrested there in 2022 and later allowed to leave and travel to Florida on a private jet. They are expected to appear in Miami federal court early next week, a source familiar with the case said.
In the United Kingdom, the Crown Prosecution Service announced additional charges, bringing the total to 38 counts involving four more alleged victims; Andrew Tate also faces a separate charge related to profiting from prostitution and 19 counts concerning indecent images of a child and extreme pornography. Their attorney, Joseph McBride, said the new British charges constitute “filth and slander” intended to block defamation suits filed in the United States and called the Department of Justice’s involvement “egregious abuse of authority.”
Andrew Tate, 39, gained prominence after appearing on the British reality show “Big Brother” in 2016 and was removed when a video emerged appearing to show him assaulting a woman. He has more than 10 million followers on X and has been banned from several platforms for hate‑speech violations. Tristan Tate, 38, is his brother and business partner. Both have denied any wrongdoing.
