Japanese logistics firm AZ‑COM Maruwa Holdings plans to use the yen‑denominated stablecoin JPYC to pay about 2,300 business partners, including truck drivers. This would represent the first large‑scale corporate use of the token in Japan.
The company, which lists Amazon Japan as a major client, said the stablecoin would enable faster, fee‑free payments for fees and compensation to contractors.
According to Nikkei, JPYC would reduce payment processing time and eliminate transfer fees. AZ‑COM Maruwa is evaluating a partnership with JPYC Inc. and plans to invest more than 1 billion yen (about $6.2 million).
Co‑founder and CEO Noritaka Okabe said the firm will continue to integrate logistics and payment workflows using JPYC.
Sony Bank and JPYC are separately testing instant yen purchases for customer accounts.
The development could expand stablecoin usage in Japanese business payments.
