Matty Healy, lead singer of The 1975, married model Gabriette Bechtel on Saturday in a private ceremony in Los Angeles, according to representatives of the couple. The engagement was announced in 2024 after nine months of dating, following Healy's brief relationship with Taylor Swift in 2023. Bechtel, 28, and Healy, 37, were reported to have married at Madonna's former estate in the Hollywood Hills, with guests including Charli XCX, as noted by several US media outlets. Bechtel announced the engagement on Instagram with a photo of a black diamond ring, captioned 'Marrying The 1975 is very brat.' Denise Welch, Healy's mother, confirmed the engagement on a podcast. Videos from Healy's stag do, featuring a performance with the tribute band The 9075, and photos from Bechtel's Las Vegas hen do, which included a police-themed costume, fake currency, and appearances by Dita Von Teese and an Elvis impersonator, have been shared online. Bechtel is known as the lead vocalist and songwriter for the punk rock band Nasty Cherry, formed by Charli XCX; her husband George Daniel is The 1975's drummer. Since headlining Glastonbury in 2023, The 1975 have been on an indefinite hiatus from live performances. The BBC has contacted Healy and Bechtel for comment, and the band has not indicated plans to resume touring.
