MoonPay has added Discover Network as a payment option for U.S.
MoonPay has added Discover Network as a payment option for U.S. customers to buy and sell cryptocurrency. The addition makes Discover the third major U.S. card network supported by MoonPay, alongside Visa and Mastercard. MoonPay also supports Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, Venmo, bank transfers and other regional payment methods. Discover has been less active in crypto partnerships compared with Visa and Mastercard, which have long collaborated with crypto firms. While Discover cards are accepted on some platforms such as CEX.IO and Sardine, MoonPay's announcement expands support to its own service. Eligibility for using a Discover card for crypto purchases depends on the issuing bank's transaction policies. Richard Harrison, vice president of banking and payments partnerships at MoonPay, said the company aims to let users pay for crypto the way they pay for other purchases. Capital One completed its $35 billion acquisition of Discover Financial Services in 2023 after announcing the deal in February 2024, and earlier in April it finished a $5.15 billion purchase of fintech firm Brex, which handles stablecoin payments. Founded in 2019, MoonPay serves over 30 million customers worldwide and partners with more than 500 enterprise clients in crypto and fintech. The company launched MoonPay Agents earlier this year, a non‑custodial infrastructure that enables AI agents to create wallets and execute transactions. MoonPay's investors include Tiger Global Management, Coatue, Justin Bieber and Paris Hilton, and it raised a $555 million Series A in 2021 at a $3.4 billion valuation. The firm secured a $200 million revolving credit line from Galaxy last year and reported ending 2024 cash‑flow positive with an 112% increase in net revenue.
