A 38-year-old man was arrested Sunday at the Trump National Golf Course in Rancho Palos Verdes, California, after police found a loaded pistol and ammunition in his vehicle. He had been taking photos and video of security preparations two days before President Donald Trump’s fundraising dinner for the Republican National Committee. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said the suspect, identified as Jeanine John Taele, was carrying a 16-round magazine and a gun in his car. A search of his home in Downey on Monday uncovered additional firearms, magazines, ammunition, body armor and notebooks that contained statements described as concerning by investigators. He was charged with second-degree robbery, possession of a large-capacity magazine, possession of a short-barreled rifle or shotgun and a misdemeanor for carrying a concealed firearm in a vehicle. Taele pleaded not guilty on Monday and was ordered to stay away from the golf course and refrain from possessing weapons. His bail was set at $250,000. The sheriff’s department said it had no credible threat to the community and that the arrest was part of an ongoing investigation by the El Segundo Police Department for a separate robbery incident. In 2025, a jury found a man guilty of attempting to assassinate Trump at a Florida country club, underscoring ongoing security concerns for the president’s public appearances.
