SpaceX reported that AI revenue rose to $2.6 billion in the latest quarter, more than tripling from the prior year, while the company recorded a loss of $143 million, narrowing its overall deficit. The quarterly earnings, disclosed by SpaceX, show three business segments—space, AI, and connectivity (Starlink). The company completed its largest-ever initial public offering in June and has been expanding its AI infrastructure through contracts with Anthropic and Google and by competing with other cloud providers such as CoreWeave. AI revenue growth was driven by compute services supplied to AI firms, and capital expenditures reached $18.37 billion, with $389 million attributed to Starship development. The AI segment posted a $1.5 billion loss, slightly lower than the previous year, and the space segment generated $962 million in revenue while Starlink contributed $4.2 billion. Musk said the company is building AI compute capacity at scale faster than any other firm and improving its AI models. SpaceX also announced it is close to completing the acquisition of Cursor, an enterprise AI software company, pending regulatory review. Although the firm beat analyst revenue expectations, its shares declined after market open. Starship’s increased launch activity, including 20 Starlink satellites launched, supports the connectivity business, which remains the only profitable segment. SpaceX continues to operate at a loss overall, but the recent financial metrics indicate a strategic emphasis on AI and satellite services as it pursues long‑term growth.
