Waymo began offering autonomous ride‑hailing in Dallas on Thursday, allowing any resident to request a self‑driving vehicle through its app. The service launched in February for a limited group and has since carried nearly 150,000 riders in the city. Waymo plans to expand testing at Dallas Love Field Airport terminals and to conduct autonomous trials on Dallas freeways before offering those routes to the public. Chris Justl, chief executive of Epilepsy Foundation Texas, said the technology provides a transformational step for people with medical conditions that limit driving ability, offering safer, independent travel. Waymo said the Dallas community has embraced the service as a new option for errands, commuting and social outings. The expansion follows similar autonomous testing programs in other U.S. cities and aims to increase transportation options for residents and visitors.
