Eclipse Glow Games' lead producer Fu Kun addressed fan concerns about the facial rendering of protagonist Gwendolyn in recent gameplay footage of Tides of Annihilation. The game, which experienced a voice actress change in July when Jennifer English stepped down citing health concerns, released 40 minutes of uninterrupted gameplay in August, showcasing updated graphics.
Fans on social media expressed confusion and frustration over the altered appearance of Gwendolyn, describing the new model as different and lower in quality. In a Q&A, Fu Kun explained that the facial differences result from real-time rendering and lighting optimization rather than a downgrade, noting that the shape remains consistent with earlier promotional material and that further refinement is planned. He also said the studio aims to blend Eastern and Western design influences, citing the Martial Saint character as an example of Chinese cultural representation.
Tides of Annihilation does not have an official release date, and the developer indicated it will continue to optimize the facial rendering while responding to community feedback.
