Unifor, a Canadian labor union, announced on August 22 that it reached tentative agreements with General Motors covering about 4,600 members in Ontario. The agreements apply to the Oshawa Assembly Plant, the CAMI Assembly Plant in Ingersoll, and worksites in St. Catharines and Woodstock. Unifor National President Lana Payne said the deals provide strong income and benefit gains for the workers. The negotiations began earlier this month after the union ratified a three-year contract with Ford that included a 3% annual wage increase. Ratification meetings for the GM agreements are set for August 29 and 30.
