Milo Yiannopoulos was deported from the United States to the United Kingdom on Friday after his detention by Immigration and Customs Enforcement in New Orleans on Thursday.
DHS officials said Yiannopoulos entered the United States in May 2019 via New York City, remained beyond the authorized period, and received a final removal order after failing to appear for his immigration hearing on 22 July.
He previously held a senior editorial position at Breitbart News, worked as an intern for former Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, and assisted Kanye West’s 2024 White House campaign. He had also been involved in a dispute with Laura Loomer, who informed ICE of his immigration status.
Social media posts he made earlier called for the establishment of immigration checkpoints at public venues and on‑spot deportations for individuals unable to verify lawful residency. He was banned from X in 2016 for directing harassing messages toward a Black actor, and his account was restored after Elon Musk acquired the platform.
The deportation reflects the current administration’s enforcement of immigration statutes and raises questions about the residency status of public figures with extensive media presence.
