The official English X account of Pokémon briefly promoted a memecoin on Thursday, then deleted the post after the account was compromised for about 30 minutes.

The promotion appeared during the Pokémon 30th anniversary and was reported by Kotaku and IGN.

The Pokémon Company said the account had been accessed without authorization, that the posts were not created or approved by the company, and that the account had been secured while an investigation was underway. Fans joked that Team Rocket might have been responsible for the hack.
