Stablecoin card spending worldwide reached $10.9 billion, according to data cited by RedotPay and Paymentscan. The figures encompass cumulative transactions since the product’s launch. In July 2026, card spending exceeded $1 billion, marking the first month with spending above that threshold, as reported by Paymentscan. RedotPay projects annualized spending of $50 billion by 2028 and says the next $10 billion in monthly volume could be achieved within eight months, compared with roughly three years for the initial $10 billion. The company reported more than eight million users and an annualized payment volume of $14 billion, though it did not provide audited documentation for those figures.
Stablecoin cards enable users to fund a payment credential with assets such as USDC or USDT, which are then converted to local currency for transactions on Visa or Mastercard networks. Visa has extended its network to more than 175 million merchant locations, and in March announced a partnership with Bridge to expand stablecoin‑linked cards to over 100 countries. Mastercard also added stablecoin settlement options for Africa, the Middle East and other emerging markets.
a16z’s onchain analysis recorded approximately $759 million in July volume and nearly nine million purchases, while Paymentscan’s broader dataset, which includes offchain data supplied by card issuers, reported about $1.04 billion. The discrepancy reflects differences in data sources rather than contradictions.
RedotPay’s co‑founder Jonathan Chan said Latin America shows the highest adoption and growth potential, followed by Africa, citing payment needs, stablecoin availability, improved fiat conversion and clearer regulations. Conventional card spending is projected to exceed $20 trillion in 2026, indicating that stablecoin card transactions remain a small share of total payment volume.
Whether monthly spending will remain above $1 billion after July and whether broader adoption across multiple card programs will materialize will determine the credibility of the 2028 forecast.
