Veteran Bitcoin Core developer Luke Dashjr resigned from OCEAN Mining after the pool completed a buyout of his equity, ending his tenure as chairman, chief technology officer and director. OCEAN said it repurchased all of his equity on Aug. 29 and will continue operating its transparent, non‑custodial pool. Dashjr will pursue a new mining venture named CONVOY, but the project has not yet published a functioning pool, mining instructions, or codebase. The joint statement attributed the separation to differing visions following recent protocol developments, without naming specific proposals such as BIP‑110. OCEAN's share of Bitcoin network hash power was estimated at about 2.5% to 3% based on data from Mempool.space, which reported roughly 24.57 exahashes per second and 2.86% of total network hash rate in recent weeks. No transfer of miners, staff or infrastructure from OCEAN to CONVOY has been disclosed. The company did not reveal the purchase price, its remaining ownership structure, or any successor appointments. The situation leaves uncertainty about whether Dashjr's move will affect OCEAN's hash power or template policy. Further verification of CONVOY's operational status is pending.
