Rockstar Games highlighted music and sound design in a recent blog post outlining upcoming updates for Grand Theft Auto VI. The studio said fans should "stay tuned for more details about the music of GTA 6," emphasizing the game's "dynamic score" and describing the title's radio system as the "next evolution of in-game radio, and more."
The announcement comes amid ongoing speculation about how the game will integrate music. Earlier leaks suggested DJ Khaled might host a dedicated radio station within the game, while rapper Drake is also rumored to be involved. Another unverified claim points to a potential partnership with Spotify that could let players import personal playlists.
A trailer released earlier this year featured protagonist Lucia wearing earbuds, prompting discussion about whether players might listen to music while moving on foot, not just while driving. The studio has not confirmed these interpretations.
Spotify has already promoted GTA 6 extensively, suggesting a close collaboration between the companies. The extent of their integration remains unclear. Rockstar noted that the game's soundtrack will include 34 tracks composed specifically for the title, featuring contributions from artists such as Keith Richards and Travis Scott.
Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled for release on November 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with a PC version expected at a later date.
