Rockstar has characterized GTA 6 as a single-player title, yet the company has not ruled out a future multiplayer component given the massive uptake of GTA Online. The timing of any online expansion remains unconfirmed, but Twitch chief executive Dan Clancy suggested during a Bloomberg interview that such a feature could arrive around 2027.
Clancy said his team has spent considerable time discussing Rockstar’s roadmap, and he believes the launch of multiplayer could generate a notable surge in viewership on the platform. He noted that the upcoming release of GTA 6 in November is expected to draw a large audience of streamers and viewers alike.
Rockstar has not publicly disclosed any multiplayer plans for GTA 6, and the studio has not announced a release date for such a mode. The company previously introduced GTA Online several weeks after the initial launch of GTA 5 in September 2013, indicating a pattern of staggered rollouts.
GTA 6 is slated to launch on November 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with a PC version anticipated at a later date.
