The CBS series Ghosts is now available to stream at no cost on Pluto TV. The show, which debuted in 2021, adapts the British BBC series of the same name created by Mathew Baynton, Simon Farnaby, Martha Howe-Douglas, Jim Howick, Laurence Rickard, and Ben Willbond. Showrunners Joe Port and Joe Wiseman oversaw the adaptation, which earned a second season in January 2022 and is set to begin its sixth season in early 2027.

The premise mirrors the original: a young couple, Samantha "Sam" (Rose McIver) and Jay Arondekar (Utkarsh Ambudkar), inherit a sprawling mansion and discover it is inhabited by ghosts. Unlike the British version, which comprised six episodes in its first season, the U.S. adaptation ordered 18 episodes, allowing it to expand its narrative and develop distinct character arcs.

The ensemble cast includes Rebecca Wisocky as Lady Henrietta Woodstone, a role inspired by the original’s Lady Fanny Button, and Devan Chandler Long as Thorfinn, a Viking ghost whose portrayal diverges from the prehistoric figure in the source material. The adaptation incorporates American historical periods such as the Prohibition era and the Revolutionary War, offering a different cultural context for the spectral residents.

Port and Wiseman emphasized fidelity to two core elements of the original: the grounding presence of the living couple, who humanize the supernatural events, and the evolution of the ghosts from disruptive intruders to a self‑identified family. This focus, they said, distinguishes the series from mere imitation and contributes to its critical reception.

Ghosts remains on the air, with season six slated for early 2027, and continues to be accessible without subscription fees on Pluto TV.
