Apple has begun distributing the second developer beta of iOS 27.2, arriving one week after the initial beta was made available. The same build is also being offered for iPadOS 27.2.
Developers can enroll in the beta through Settings > General > Software Update and selecting the iOS 27 developer beta option.
The iOS 27.2 update introduces a redesigned Health app featuring new Insight and Longevity tabs, alongside expanded Siri language support. Additional refinements are documented in Apple’s feature overview.
The timing of this release is notable because Apple had previously indicated that iOS 27.1 would precede the upcoming iPhone Duo, a dual‑screen device scheduled for launch on Friday, October 23. The iPhone Duo will operate with a vertical dock, a vertical Dynamic Island, and new multitasking layouts designed for its dual‑screen interface. Apple appears to be delaying the public rollout of iOS 27.1 until the device’s release, possibly to maintain confidentiality of its features.
With the iPhone Duo’s launch approaching, Apple will need to issue iOS 27.1 before that date. The iOS 27.2 beta, which includes the new Siri language capabilities, is expected to reach general availability sometime in October.
Earlier reports indicated that iOS 27 will roll out on Monday, September 14, with availability beginning around 10 a.m. Pacific Time / 1 p.m. Eastern Time through the Settings app under General → Software Update.
The update brings eight notable features, including an “iPhone Handoff” function that enables users to switch between two iPhones while using the same phone number on each device. This capability was first referenced during Apple’s WWDC 2026 keynote in June, though specific details were not disclosed at that time.
