Apple made iOS 27 available to users last week, delivering a suite of new Siri and Apple Intelligence capabilities alongside a dedicated Siri application. The update marks the first occasion Apple has pre‑installed Siri as a separate app on iPhone, allowing users to launch the assistant directly from the Home Screen.
The new Siri app appears alongside the system update on iPhone, as well as on Mac with macOS 27, Vision Pro with visionOS 27, iPad with iPadOS 27 and Apple Watch with watchOS 27. Within the app, users can scroll through a chronological feed of past interactions, initiate fresh conversations and attach photos or files for analysis. The interface adopts a chat‑style layout that mirrors the conversational flow of existing Siri experiences.
Apple links the app to the broader Apple Intelligence framework, granting access to expanded world knowledge, personal device context and on‑screen object recognition. By tapping into messages, emails, photos and other on‑device content, the enhanced Siri can provide answers tailored to a user’s immediate environment. This integration also enables the assistant to interpret visual elements displayed on the screen.
Compatibility for the standalone Siri app is limited to devices that support Apple Intelligence. The supported iPhone models include the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max, all variants of the iPhone 16 series, the forthcoming iPhone 17 lineup and the iPhone Air. Earlier iPhone generations do not receive the dedicated app, though they retain standard Siri functionality through the operating system.
Apple has previously rolled out other first‑party apps with major releases; Image Playground debuted with iOS 18.2 in December 2024, and the Preview and Games apps were introduced in the iOS 26 update the prior year. The company has not announced a release schedule for additional default applications.
The rollout of iOS 27 invites users to explore the new Siri interface and assess how the deeper integration with Apple Intelligence may affect everyday interactions with the assistant. Updates to other platforms will follow in the coming weeks.
