GIGABYTE has introduced three new DDR4 motherboards targeting the Japanese market, expanding its portfolio of older-generation platforms amid rising DDR5 pricing. The lineup includes one Intel LGA 1700 board for Alder Lake, Raptor Lake and Refresh processors, and two AMD AM4 boards for legacy Ryzen families. The first AMD model, GIGABYTE B450M H ARGB, supports Ryzen 5000, 5000G, 4000G, 3000 and 3000G series chips. It features a 4+2 hybrid digital VRM design, two DIMM slots for up to 64 GB of DDR4 memory at 2667 MHz, a single PCIe x16 and PCIe x1 expansion slot, and I/O options including USB Type-A ports, Q-Flash Plus, DisplayPort, HDMI and a PS/2 connector. The board is priced at 9,980 yen (approximately US$63) and targets entry-level builds. A second AMD offering, the B550 X EAGLE, uses an ATX form factor with an 8+2-phase VRM and heatsink cooling. It provides four DIMM slots for up to 128 GB of DDR4 memory at 3200 MHz, native PCIe 4.0 support for GPUs and NVMe storage, and multiple expansion slots. Priced at 19,500 yen (about US$123), it offers more robust power delivery and connectivity than the B450M H ARGB. The third board, AORUS Shinryu Rin B760 Gen5 DDR4, is a micro-ATX model designed for Intel 12th, 13th and 14th generation processors. It includes WiFi 6E, 2.5 GbE LAN, Bluetooth 5.3, multiple USB Type-C and Type-A ports, and native PCIe 4.0 support for SSDs and PCIe Gen 5.0 x16 for GPUs. Memory support reaches 128 GB at 5333 MHz. This board is priced at 26,800 yen (roughly US$170). All three models are scheduled for retail availability in Japan on October 1 and 2. The launches reflect ongoing vendor efforts to extend the lifecycle of DDR4 platforms while DDR5 remains costly.
