Activision's Ricochet Anti-Cheat team outlined initial steps it plans to implement for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. One focus involves server culling, a technique intended to reduce wallhacking by restricting the transmission of player location data when the server determines an opponent should not be visible. Wallhacks typically operate by intercepting and analyzing positional information across a server, allowing cheaters to perceive opponents through obstacles. By limiting data delivery, the system aims to prevent software from accessing unseen details. Infinity Ward is incorporating additional occlusion layers into each map to support this filtering process. Activision confirmed that server culling will extend to DMZ and Combat Outpost modes, as well as future live season maps across multiplayer, DMZ, and Warzone starting with Season 1. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is scheduled for release on October 23rd for PC via Steam, Xbox, and Battle.net, and on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2. KitGuru noted the initiative as part of broader industry efforts to address cheating in online games.
