Apple retail locations in the United States plan to implement a personalization feature for the iPhone Duo that will display the purchaser's name on the device's initial setup screen, according to reporting by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. The system will support both English and Spanish language options and will be available for devices bought in-store or reserved for pickup.

The customization will occur during the first power-on sequence, replacing the standard "Hello" greeting with a message such as "Hello, Mark" when the phone is activated. This functionality appears limited to the Duo model and will not extend to other Apple devices.

Pre-orders for the iPhone Duo begin on October 16 at 5 a.m. Pacific Time, with official availability starting on October 23. Apple has set the starting price at $1,999 for the base model. The device represents Apple's first foldable smartphone and includes unique features like dual-screen functionality and upcoming Apple Pencil compatibility, though it omits several capabilities found in the iPhone 18 Pro series, including a dedicated telephoto camera with optical zoom.

Apple's approach to crease visibility on the Duo's display has also drawn attention. Hardware engineering VP Tom Marieb indicated in a recent TechRadar interview that the company uses a matte nano-texture panel designed to reduce glare and minimize crease prominence over time, though long-term durability remains under evaluation.
