Hulu announced on Friday that it will begin streaming the Dragon Ball Super: Beerus television anime series in the United States on October 11. The series will premiere on Fuji TV and its affiliated stations on the same day at 11:15 p.m. JST (10:15 a.m. EDT), replacing the One Piece anime, whose final episode for the year aired on September 27. In Japan, the series will also be available on Amazon Prime Video and U-NEXT, with new episodes posted 30 minutes after broadcast at 12:15 a.m. JST. Crunchyroll will stream the anime in Japanese with English subtitles on October 11 across the United States, Canada, Latin America including Brazil, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, India, Southeast Asia, and Europe. Netflix plans to add the series to its platform on October 17, though its listing currently shows an earlier start date of October 14 in certain regions. The first episode was previewed during the Dragon Ball Super: Beerus Special Panel at New York Comic Con on Thursday. The production features composition and direction by Matsuto Seya, character design and general animation direction by Tadayoshi Yamamuro, editing by Eiichi Nishimura, compositing direction by Yōsuke Motoki, and music by Norihito Sumitomo. Kōichi Yamadera returns to voice Beerus. MEGATERA・ZERO performs the opening theme "ONOGAMI," and VK Blanka performs the ending theme "Kan Peki No Peki." Akio Iyoku described the project as an "enhanced" edition of Dragon Ball Super, noting its revised animation, re-rendered footage, and updated dubbing with added score and sound effects. The official announcement emphasized that the edition includes extensive new cuts, revised scenes, and a full reconstruction of the story to more closely reflect Akira Toriyama’s original vision, particularly in battle sequences. The staff described the narrative as follows: several years after the defeat of Majin Buu, Earth enjoys a fragile peace when Beerus, the God of Destruction, awakens from a long slumber. Sensing the presence of a Saiyan who previously defeated Frieza, Beerus confronts Goku, placing Earth in grave danger and initiating a universe-shaking conflict. Dragon Ball Super originally aired from July 2015 to March 2018, with 131 episodes broadcast in Japan. Funimation and Crunchyroll streamed the series during its initial run, and Funimation later released it on home video. The English dub debuted on Adult Swim’s Toonami block in January 2017. Press materials indicate the enhanced version will employ updated visual techniques to deliver greater fidelity to the source material. The project was first reported in a press release.
