Three days before the iPhone Duo's market debut, Apple has shared visual documentation of its built-in applications operating on the new device. The App Store now hosts screenshots revealing how core functions appear when running on the Duo's dual-display system.
The interface adopts a landscape orientation for many apps, incorporating iPad-like layouts with sidebar navigation that reserves part of the screen for menu elements. Other applications utilize the full display area to maximize content visibility. Some programs implement a split-view approach that extends beyond standard sidebar navigation.
In Contacts, the interface separates a list of contacts from an editing panel. The Siri application employs a tiled conversation view on one side with the complete conversation displayed on the opposite side. Navigation bars appear along the right edge of the screen in both open and closed configurations, except when the device is held vertically like a traditional phone, where controls shift to the bottom.
Certain apps, such as Preview, combine bottom-mounted tool palettes with sidebars or navigation elements. Markup tools demonstrate how drawing and photo editing applications might utilize the expanded screen space. Applications requiring minimal interface elements can operate in full-screen mode, while others provide an option to hide navigation bars through touch interaction.
Contextual popovers appear when icons are pressed and held, occupying less screen area than on standard iPhone models. On the Home Screen, the Today View occupies the left side for widget display, with app icons positioned on the right. The status bar resides in the upper-right corner, while Lock Screen controls like Flashlight and Camera appear in the lower-right section. The inner display lacks an always-on Dynamic Island due to the absence of Face ID hardware; instead, a side-extending Dynamic Island handles Live Activities and alerts on the outer screen.
Most screenshots depict the device in its unfolded landscape state, though some illustrate functionality on the smaller outer display. Apple indicates the Duo supports multiple usage configurations beyond fully open or closed positions, including angled viewing for media consumption and tent-like positioning that shows the outer screen. Partial opening allows book-style operation.
The device will launch on October 23, with media review units expected to arrive within 48 hours of release. Apple has advised retail staff to discourage walk-in purchases on launch day due to anticipated inventory shortages.
An EU energy label confirms the iPhone Duo's total battery capacity at 4,883 mAh, combining 2,962 mAh and 1,921 mAh cells. The documentation aligns with previous leaks and applies globally, as the model operates exclusively via eSIM connectivity.
