A PlayStation 5 emulator now runs the Demon's Souls remake at 120 frames per second under specific conditions. Testing by Geralt Benchmarks demonstrated the feat on a PC equipped with an RTX 5070 graphics card and Ryzen 7 9800X3D processor. The game operated at 1440p resolution with two instances of DLSS Frame Generation enabled, reaching the higher frame rate. On the original PS5 hardware, the remake is capped at 60FPS. Without Frame Generation, the emulator typically delivers around 70FPS, still surpassing the console's native performance. This advancement reflects ongoing progress in PS5 emulation, which has accelerated following Sony's decision to discontinue support for physical game discs on older consoles. The move also coincides with the recent deactivation of digital storefronts for the PS3 and PS Vita, which has rendered many previously purchased digital titles inaccessible. Emulation developers note that such technical milestones may influence how legacy titles are preserved and accessed as official distribution channels diminish.
