The November issue of Kodansha's Monthly Young Magazine announced on Tuesday that Rin Shimokawa's one-shot manga 'Godmother' will launch as a serialized series in the magazine's next issue on November 18.

The original one-shot, which appeared in a special English-language edition of Young Magazine US, follows Kinryu, a college student abruptly forced to leave school and relocate to Japan to care for a 114-year-old grandmother she never knew existed. Angry and disoriented, Kinryu travels to Yokohama and discovers her grandmother living behind a mahjong parlor, where she learns of a supernatural secret tied to the women in her family.

Shimokawa originally released the one-shot in August 2025 as part of Kodansha's special Young Magazine US English issue. The top five winners from that competition are guaranteed serialization on Kodansha's K MANGA app, with their works also appearing in Japan's Monthly Young Magazine and/or YanMaga Web simultaneously.

Other titles selected for serialization include Still You, To Dusk and Twilight, Boys Run the Riot -In Transition-, Protocol Ryugu, and The Last Terran. To Dusk and Twilight, Protocol Ryugu, and The Last Terran are currently running, with The Last Terran having begun its run in Monthly Young Magazine in August 2025.

Daisuke Itabashi's The Journey of a Dark Elf with Fading Powers started serialization in the January 2026 issue of Monthly Young Magazine in December 2025. Ray Kindō's The Knight of Blasphemy (Tokushin no Chevalier) launched in the August issue on July 16. Seven Seas Entertainment has licensed The Journey of a Dark Elf with Fading Powers and plans to release it in print in March 2027.
