Sony announced that the PlayStation Store for PS3 and PS Vita will close, with closures beginning in August 2026 in select Latin American markets and completing globally by July 2027. The digital storefronts, operational since the PS3’s launch nearly two decades ago, had originally been scheduled for shutdown five years earlier but were delayed after user criticism. Sony said existing game purchases will remain downloadable, but no new purchases will be possible after the specified dates. Users will have about one year to acquire remaining titles, including many PS1 and PSP games that are not playable on PS4 or PS5. The rollout schedule lists Mexico, Honduras and Nicaragua for August 2026, other Latin American and Middle Eastern countries for late 2026, and all other regions for July 2027.
