Singapore police seized a $42.5 million mansion in a prime district near the Botanic Gardens, alleging it was purchased with proceeds from the smuggling of Nvidia artificial intelligence chips, authorities said on Wednesday. The property last sold for 55 million Singapore dollars, with at least two‑thirds of the price allegedly funded by illicit earnings, police said. The seizure is part of a probe into the alleged illegal trade of servers containing advanced Nvidia chips, which are subject to U.S. export controls. An order has been issued to prevent the sale of the home while the investigation proceeds. Wei Zhaolun, also known as Alan Wei, the chief executive of Aperia Group, will face money‑laundering charges for allegedly using about 38 million Singapore dollars of criminal proceeds to acquire the house, police said. He and three other individuals have been accused since February 2025 of fraud and related offenses; they could receive up to 20 years in prison if convicted. The alleged scheme involved placing orders for servers from Dell, Super Micro Computer and Asus under the pretense that they would be used by the companies where the buyers worked. Authorities have not disclosed the final destinations of the servers. About one million Singapore dollars were seized in bank accounts linked to the case. Singapore‑based firms Luxuriate Your Life and three entities within Aperia Group also face charges, marking the first instance of corporate entities being prosecuted in this investigation. The police stated they maintain a zero‑tolerance stance toward such offences and seek to protect Singapore’s reputation as a trusted global business hub. The United States and Singapore have intensified crackdowns on the illegal shipment of Nvidia chips since the U.S. imposed export restrictions in 2022.
