SoftBank plans to launch a neocloud service in the United States through a new subsidiary called SB Neo, Inc., with operations slated to begin in fiscal 2027.
The service will be built around a GPU infrastructure the company is developing in the United States, aiming to provide compute resources for AI training to hyperscalers and other customers. SoftBank will own a 51 percent stake in SB Neo, while SoftBank Group Corp will hold 49 percent; the unit will be a consolidated subsidiary of SoftBank Corp, which itself is 40 percent owned by SoftBank Group.
SoftBank has been offering a beta version of its GPU cloud service, Infrinia AI Cloud OS, in Japan since May. The platform includes Kubernetes‑as‑a‑Service and Inference‑as‑a‑Service APIs for large language model inference. Masayoshi Son said the group will deploy world‑class AI infrastructure and drive the AI revolution. The company also intends to construct gigawatt‑scale AI data centers in Japan once preparations are complete.
A $10 billion loan secured by a stake in OpenAI is being arranged, with SoftBank agreeing to guarantee repayment, giving banks recourse if the collateral’s value declines. Executives have dismissed concerns that the AI market is in a bubble.
