A 13-year-old boy was injured after lightning struck his home in Cypress, Texas, on July 7 while he was playing video games. Vladyslav Skuridin told ABC News through his mother that he felt a shock travel through his body and saw a bright white light. He said he quickly moved back and became dizzy and confused. He also described hearing a loud boom that caused his ears to pop and made him scream. He was playing a computer game at the time. The strike caused a small fire in the attic that was extinguished by fire crews. He was evaluated by medical professionals on site but did not go to the hospital. Local authorities advised residents to avoid using corded electronics and to stay away from electrical wiring and plumbing during thunderstorms.
