The Federal Communications Commission fined eight companies $25,000 each and gave them ten days to respond. The commission warned that further action could follow if the companies do not reply. The FCC added all foreign drone manufacturers to its Covered List on December 22, blocking authorization of their radio equipment in the United States on national security grounds. The commission also gave itself authority to retroactively prohibit products that used components from listed manufacturers, even if those products had previously received FCC approval. The companies — Cogito Tech, Fixaxo Technology, Lyno Dynamics, Skyhigh Tech, Spatial Hover, SZ Knowact, WaveGo Tech and Xtra Technology — did not answer FCC letters requesting information about radio equipment marketed in the United States that appears on the Covered List. Verge reporting found that none of the companies responded to repeated inquiries. Tests conducted by Verge showed the Xtra Muse camera matched the design of the DJI Osmo Pocket 3. FCC officials said the investigation was based in part on the Verge reporting. Xtra promoted the Muse as comparable to the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 and advertised an upcoming "Xtra Muse 2 Pro" that resembles the DJI Pocket 4 Pro, using marketing language that hinted at a DJI connection. The FCC announced it will disqualify SGS‑CTST Standards Technical Services Co, the test laboratory that certified the DJI Osmo Pocket 4 and 4 Pro, because its Shenzhen subsidiary is 15 % owned by a China‑linked firm that the U.S. Department of Commerce has identified as a foreign adversary. DJI declined to comment on the FCC's actions. The FCC said it will review the companies' responses and may impose additional penalties if compliance is not achieved.
