SpaceX has filed an application with the Federal Communications Commission to launch up to 100,000 third‑generation Starlink satellites, expanding the constellation to roughly 111,000 satellites. The Gen3 satellites, each weighing more than 2,000 kg, would require Starship or Falcon Heavy launch vehicles. The filing requests spectrum across Ku, Ka, V, E, W and D bands and seeks waivers of FCC rules to create larger contiguous channels for high‑capacity fronthaul and backhaul. SpaceX says the network will deliver multi‑gigabit symmetrical broadband with ultra‑low latency below 20 ms, a ten‑fold increase over current 30‑50 ms latency.
