A fire broke out at a beer hall in Bangkok overnight, killing at least 27 people and injuring dozens before firefighters brought the blaze under control. The fire began shortly before midnight Sunday at the Na Ladprao beer hall in the northern part of the city. Authorities are investigating the cause, examining ceiling materials and possible obstruction of emergency exits, according to Bangkok governor Chadchart Sittipunt. A musician performing at the venue reported seeing smoke from a circuit breaker before the power went out and an explosion was heard, he told officials. Many victims were found in the restrooms, and 63 people were taken to hospitals, including 22 in critical condition. Forensic officers combed the charred interior on Monday, and the building’s street‑facing windows were shattered, leaving debris such as burnt tables, speakers and an electric guitar on the sidewalk. Buddhist monks visited the site to pray for the victims, and nurses distributed masks to nearby residents to mitigate smoke exposure. The investigation into the fire’s origin remains ongoing, and officials have not yet determined whether safety violations contributed to the rapid spread of the blaze.
