2P_Game_Arcade, a Korean games culture site, is hosting an open game development contest that requires entries to fit entirely within a 1.44 MB floppy disk.
The competition, which closes on September 4 at 23:39 Korean time, offers a prize pool of ₩1.14 million, roughly $750, for the top three submissions.
Entrants must create a self‑contained game that includes the engine, libraries and all resource files within the 1.44 MB limit, and may not rely on a browser or stream data.
2P_Game_Arcade said the contest invites developers of any experience level to participate.
Participants may use any programming language, game engine or development tool, provided they own or have permission for all images, audio and other IP used in the game.
The site said the contest is intended to challenge developers to work within tight storage constraints, a practice that reflects long‑standing demoscene traditions.
Similar size‑limited contests have been held previously, including itch.io’s FloppyJam in 2018.
Earlier examples of demoscene size competitions include a 16‑byte x86 assembly demo released at the Outline Demoparty in May 2026, a 56‑byte version of Snake that fit inside a QR code, and a 2,749‑byte Notepad‑style application by Dave W. Plummer.
The competition will close on September 4, after which the winners will be announced.
