Marton, writing on July 12 2026, said he built a streamer device named Pentaton LP to display album artwork. The device measures about 12 inches by 12 inches and is designed to resemble a vinyl sleeve. It uses a 17‑inch industrial IPS LCD with 1920x1920 resolution and a Radxa CM3 compute module. The carrier board was designed to minimize height, and after four revisions the electronics functioned as intended. Power is supplied via USB‑C Power Delivery, with an additional USB‑C port for an external DAC, a Gigabit Ethernet port, and a 12 V trigger output for an amplifier. The module includes Wi‑Fi and Bluetooth.

The enclosure was modeled in FreeCAD; a custom macro was required to produce the curved shape. The 3D‑printed case required redesign for manufacturing. The software runs shairport‑sync on a minimal Alpine Linux image, handling AirPlay audio. A separate application reads artwork metadata from the AirPlay client and drives the display, using GPU acceleration to cross‑fade 4 MP images at 60 fps. AirPlay typically sends low‑resolution artwork; Marton added an extension to transmit full‑resolution images.

The device operates continuously. When the screen is off it draws less than 2 W; at full brightness it consumes about 24 W. It can wake automatically when streaming begins and trigger the amplifier via the 12 V output. Marton powers the unit with a standard USB‑C charger and connects it to a Pro‑Jet Amp Box SE through a FiiO KA17 DAC. AirPlay delivers CD‑quality lossless audio.

Marton indicated he may launch a Kickstarter for the device if sufficient interest is shown, and provided a link for updates.
