Half-Life, a story-driven first-person shooter originally released in 1998, has been ported to PowerPC-based Macintosh computers running Mac OS 9, according to a GitHub repository maintained by user doctashay. The port uses a fork of Xash3D FWGS, a reimplementation of the GoldSrc engine, and is playable from start to finish with multiplayer support and demos for Blue Shift and Opposing Force. It supports G3 and G4 PowerPC systems with Mac OS 9.0 or later; performance varies with GPU capabilities, and machines with less than 8 MB of video RAM may experience reduced performance. The achievement is notable for the Macintosh gaming community, as the original game was cancelled for Mac OS 9 in 1999 and the first Mac OS X release arrived in 2013.
