Lekuo announced a low-profile PCIe add-in card that expands a single PCIe Gen4 x4 slot into multiple M.2, SATA and USB ports using an AMD B650 chipset. The card requires no external power.
PCIe expansion cards have been used to add storage and connectivity to systems that lack sufficient onboard ports, and many designs require motherboard lane bifurcation support.
The card measures 174 mm in length and 69 mm in height. It provides four M.2 PCIe SSD slots, four SATA III 6 Gb/s ports, one USB Type-C 20 Gb/s port, one USB Type-C 10 Gb/s port and two USB Type-A 10 Gb/s ports. When both front-side M.2 slots are populated, the drives operate at Gen4 x4 speeds; populating the rear M.2 slots reduces all M.2 drives to Gen4 x2 speeds. Lekuo said the card is compatible with Windows, Linux and macOS and does not require additional power. The price is listed as 599 yuan, about $89, and the device is sold through JD.com. It targets home server builders, NAS users and content creators needing multiple storage devices.
Lekuo has not announced a timeline for availability outside China.
