Whoop announced the Whoop 5.0, a hardware and software update, along with new subscription tiers. The device is offered in two versions, the standard model and the medical‑grade Whoop MG, both of which are about seven percent smaller than the previous Whoop 4.0. Whoop said the new models have roughly ten times the power efficiency, delivering an estimated 14 days of battery life, and include a wireless charging pack that can add another 30 days of charge. Processing speed is reported to be about 60 percent faster, and the sensors capture data at approximately 26 measurements per second. The MG version adds electrocardiogram (EKG) capability. Whoop also introduced new straps, including leather, and options for its Whoop Body clothing, allowing the tracker to be worn with formal attire. Existing Whoop 4.0 straps are not interchangeable, but the company said an upcycling kit will be available for users who upgrade.

The updates are primarily software based. The companion app has been redesigned and now includes a longevity metric called Healthspan, which combines nine data points to compare physiological aging with chronological age and provides tips for improving the score. Blood pressure insights, which require calibration with a cuff, are offered as a wellness feature without medical clearance. Hormonal insights for women track menstrual cycle phases and provide guidance on recovery, sleep, stress, and performance during menstruation, pregnancy, or perimenopause. An FDA‑cleared EKG function can detect atrial fibrillation and send irregular‑heart‑rhythm notifications. Whoop Advanced Labs, a beta program that lets users schedule clinician‑reviewed blood tests, will launch later with an additional fee outside the subscription.

Whoop is revising its subscription model. The entry‑level Whoop One tier costs $199 per year and includes the Whoop 5.0 hardware, a wired charger, basic fitness metrics, and AI coaching. The mid‑tier Whoop Peak subscription costs $239 per year, adding Healthspan, stress tracking, a wireless charger, and a health‑monitor dashboard. The premium Whoop Life tier costs $359 per year, includes EKG and blood pressure insights, and ships with the Whoop MG hardware. Some existing users have expressed concerns about the changes, but the company says the expanded feature set and more flexible pricing are intended to broaden appeal beyond niche fitness users and compete with smart rings and other wearable watches.

Whoop said the new device is available for immediate order, and the company plans to evaluate its performance over the next month.
