Mojang announced that Minecraft will be released as a native version for the Nintendo Switch 2 on October 27. The Switch 2 library has largely consisted of enhanced editions of Switch 1 titles, and the addition of a new Minecraft version continues that trend. The announcement did not provide technical specifications such as frame rate or rendering limits. Mojang said the Switch 2 edition will support the game's Vibrant Visuals, which include improved lighting and shadow effects. Split‑screen play will be limited to a simpler visual mode. Mojang also indicated that a digital upgrade path may be offered, potentially requiring a purchase. The release is expected to be a major addition to the Switch 2’s game lineup when it launches in late October.
