Synology announced the DiskStation Neo+ series, which includes the DS1825neo+, DS1525neo+, DS925neo+ and DS725neo+. The devices use the same chassis family as the DS Plus line and ship with a default 4 GB non‑ECC DDR4 memory module. All models feature built‑in 2.5 GbE Ethernet ports and an M.2 slot for SSD caching. The larger units, the DS1825neo+ and DS1525neo+, also provide a PCIe 3.0 slot for optional 10 GbE or 25 GbE network cards. Storage capacity can be increased with the DX525 expansion unit. Each model supports ECC memory upgrades up to 32 GB. The DS1825neo+ and DS1525neo+ are equipped with a 4‑core Ryzen V1500B processor, while the DS725neo+ uses a 2‑core Ryzen R1600. Software management runs on DiskStation Manager (DSM), offering features such as Synology Drive, cross‑platform file synchronization and the Active Backup Suite for Windows, Linux, macOS, virtual machines and cloud accounts. Surveillance Station is included for on‑premises NVR functionality across multiple sites. Synology said the non‑ECC memory configuration is intended to lower the initial cost for users entering the Plus Series ecosystem. The launch follows earlier releases of the DS Plus models and positions the Neo+ line as an alternative within Synology’s product portfolio. Whether the cost savings will translate into broader market adoption remains to be seen.
