Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim is expected to remain under observation for two days after undergoing a medical procedure, the government said Monday. The announcement was made on his 79th birthday by Senior Press Secretary Tunku Nashrul Abaidah, who said Anwar was being examined by a team of medical specialists and no details about the procedure were released. He underwent a routine health check in January that found him fit to continue his duties, and he has previously received treatment for back and shoulder problems, including spinal surgery in Istanbul in 2018 and a planned shoulder operation that year. The current procedure is not connected to those earlier conditions. His administration said his schedule will be adjusted as needed, and no policy changes have been announced.
