NYSE President Lynn Martin said on Aug.
NYSE President Lynn Martin said on Aug. 10 that the exchange is continuing to develop an onchain settlement platform for tokenized securities after a July pilot with the Depository Trust Company (DTC).
The project, first announced in January, seeks to integrate blockchain settlement with NYSE’s existing market infrastructure, supporting 24/7 trading, instant settlement and fractional shares, pending regulatory approvals.
An April SEC filing allowed eligible securities such as Russell 1000 components and index‑tracking ETFs to trade tokenized on NYSE alongside traditional shares when ticker, CUSIP and rights are identical.
The July pilot processed live trades on July 15 involving more than 30 firms, including BlackRock, Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan, Nasdaq, Circle, Ondo Finance, Citadel Securities and Vanguard, testing equity delivery versus payment, Treasury and repo transactions, securities lending and margin processes on DTCC’s private Besu and public Canton networks.
DTCC plans to launch its broader Tokenization Service in October, while ICE said the separate digital venue remains subject to regulatory approvals.
Martin described the effort as part of a critical turning point between traditional finance and decentralized finance, but the broader rollout will depend on further regulatory and operational steps.
