Taylor Swift songs were removed from videos posted by Donald Trump’s campaign and the White House on social media, including a TikTok video posted on August 3 that showed President Trump and first lady Melania Trump watching fireworks. The video used Swift’s song “August” and included text that read, “I’m sure @Taylor Swift is going to be super excited we used her song! #taylorswift #maga #august.” A later campaign post referenced Swift’s 2012 album Red and suggested parody titles, but the video is now silent. Both videos are no longer audible. Other Trump‑related accounts have used Swift’s music in additional posts, some of which also lack sound. Several pop artists have objected to the use of their songs in campaign content. Ariana Grande posted that her music should not be used with “this barbaric, inhumane, heinous nonsense” after the White House posted her track over a montage of immigration enforcement images. Singer Sabrina Carpenter wrote that a 2025 video pairing her song with immigration raids was “evil and disgusting” and asked not to involve her music in an inhumane agenda. Swift has not made a public statement. Trump previously said “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!” after she endorsed Kamala Harris in the 2024 election and posted a comment that she was no longer “HOT.” Swift’s Eras Tour is reported to have earned about $2.2 billion worldwide, and her forthcoming album The Life of a Showgirl became the most pre‑saved album on Spotify ahead of its October 2025 release.
