TechCrunch published a guide describing how users can verify whether their accounts on AI platforms such as ChatGPT, Claude, and Perplexity have been accessed by unauthorized parties.

The guide recommends using unique passwords managed in a password manager and enabling multi‑factor authentication where available. ChatGPT and Perplexity support MFA; Claude requires an email link for login and does not use passwords.

To check active sessions, users open the platform in a web browser, navigate to account settings, and view the list of logged‑in devices. On ChatGPT, the path is Settings → Security and Login → Active Sessions. Unrecognized devices can be logged out individually or via a “Log out all” option. To change the password, users log out, then select “Log in,” enter the email address, choose “Forgot password,” receive a six‑digit code via email, and set a new password.

For Claude, the active sessions are displayed under Settings → Account. Users can hover over an unfamiliar session, click the three‑dot menu, and select “Log out” or “Terminate.” An option to “Log out of all devices” is also available. Logging back in requires clicking the email link sent to the user.

Perplexity does not display active sessions. To sign out of all sessions, users click their username, select “All settings,” choose “Sign out of all sessions,” confirm, and then log back in by entering the email address and the six‑digit code sent via email.

The article also lists contact information for the author, Lorenzo Franceschi‑Bicchierai, a senior writer at TechCrunch.
