Disney and Square Enix presented an extended Kingdom Hearts 4 gameplay trailer at the D23 2026 Deep Dive into Kingdom Hearts panel, revealing that Mickey, Donald, and Goofy will be playable characters.

The four‑minute trailer, shown during the Disney Entertainment Showcase, included gameplay of Goofy and Donald that followed series conventions, a sledding segment in the Underworld, and a depiction of King Mickey navigating environments that shifted to origami‑style visuals. The presentation also featured a brief appearance of Riku near the end.

Series creator Tetsuya Nomura stated that the game remains on schedule for its 2027 release window and denied reports of a delay. Disney announced plans for a future Kingdom Hearts anime series. The game is planned for PC, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, with a late‑2027 launch.
