Researchers found that the GLP‑1 receptor agonist semaglutide, used for diabetes and weight management, was associated with a lower predicted risk of developing dementia in a large observational cohort. The analysis, published in a peer‑reviewed journal, adjusted for age, sex, cardiovascular health and other confounders and indicated a reduced probability of dementia onset among participants taking the drug compared with those who did not.
