Chinese AI company Zhipu last week announced its GLM-5.3 model, stating that it achieved superior results on the CyberGym benchmark, a test of a model’s ability to solve real-world cybersecurity challenges, compared with Fable 5 and GPT-5.6 Sol.

The CyberGym benchmark evaluates vulnerability discovery across system kernels, operating systems, browser engines, open-source infrastructure, web applications, and network protocols. Zhipu reported that the model identified 2,436 vulnerabilities in 269 projects, including 1,097 medium- to high-severity issues, with some issues dating back about 40 years.

The announcement said the model also performed lower than western models on other security and coding benchmarks. Zhipu noted that the gains were most pronounced at higher exploitation stages, where the model began to reason across multiple steps to form exploitation plans. The company added that it had collaborated with Chinese firms to test the model on real-world codebases.

South Korea’s Communications Commission announced that it will pursue legal action against Apple and Google over alleged app store monopolies, referencing a 2021 law that requires third‑party payment options and imposes penalties of up to three percent of revenue for non‑compliant behavior.

India’s Ministry of Road Transport & Highways issued a directive prohibiting rideshare apps from allowing users to specify tip amounts before a driver accepts a ride, stating that any pre‑ride prompt that suggests additional payment to improve acceptance or service is prohibited.

TCS and HCL each released filings indicating that they had experienced data breaches involving employee information. TCS said the leaked data were basic employee details from more than four years ago and that its systems had strong safeguards against password spray and MFA fatigue attacks; it found no credible evidence of a breach of its systems or customer environments. HCL described the exposed data as limited and dated to a few years back, and said its investigation was ongoing.

Lenovo reported a quarterly profit of $777 million for its Infrastructure Solutions Group, driven by increased revenue of $8.5 billion, a 98 percent year‑on‑year increase, and strong demand for AI‑related server hardware. The company ranked second among x86 server vendors by revenue and saw overall sales rise 43 percent year‑on‑year.

India’s Space Research Organization issued a tender for an astronaut training facility, with a contract value of $2.75 million, to include extensive air‑conditioning and a swimming pool to enable domestic training for future Gaganyaan mission astronauts.

The article noted that Zhipu’s findings indicate China is narrowing the gap with Western AI firms in cybersecurity capabilities, though the broader impact remains to be seen.
